II CORINTHIANS 3:5-6

     5   Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

6     ¶ Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

(The spirit of the word is when the word is made clear by the Holy Spirit to the heart of the believer)

MATTHEW 4:5-7 (This is Jesus being tempted by the devil)

5   Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6   And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

(Notice how the devil is quoting the scripture to Jesus, but he applying it to a situation that is not appropriate – you don’t go jumping off buildings on purpose just to see if God will save you)

7   Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

MATTHEW 4:1-11 (Look briefly at these three temptations – these are the best three temptations that the devil could give)

1     ¶ Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2   And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3   And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4   But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (If Jesus had turned the stones into bread (which he could have done as we saw him turn the water into wine), then the problem with this is that he would have been obeying the words of what the devil had told him to do, he would have satisfied his hunger and giving nourishment to his body by being obedient to the words that came out of the devils mouth, but it is the words that come out of God’s mouth that man is to live by, and so we see how the devil tried to trick Jesus to get him to obey his words – that’s the first trick he played on Eve and she fell for it because he got her to eat what he told her to eat.)

(The devil is quoting the scripture from Psalms 91:11-12, notice how he is using the very scriptures now to try to get Jesus to do something that he wants him to do)

7   Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God (In other words – “it is also written”. That is why you must never take a single scripture on its own and try and make it say something that doesn’t fit with the rest of the revelation of the word of God – but this is how the devil was trying to trap Jesus, he was quoting a single scripture to him but with a wrong interpretation to it to try to get Jesus to jump off a building to see if God would save him – you don’t tempt the Lord like that because it is also written).

8   Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (Riches – that is such a great temptation to man, because Adam was a very rich man, he owned the whole world, he was the god of the whole world and then lost all of it, and so that is why there is something in every man that is always trying to get back the wealth and power that he fell from. Man was designed by God to rule the world and to care for it, that’s what God made him to be, and that’s why man wants to build his kingdoms, it’s just in him to do it. He’s constantly trying to get it all back of what Adam lost, but in most cases he is not willing to repent, if he would only repent he would get it all back. Just look at all the dictators down through the ages, and all the money schemes, and then all the sorrow and death that follows these things, all because man is trying to do these things without the nature and leadership of God abiding within him.)

9   And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10   Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

(See how Jesus didn’t fall for money and power – he stayed with the word of God instead of going along with the devil’s lie like Adam did)

11   Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Last Wednesday evening service we said that we would try to answer this question that Jason asked as to why brother Branham said that Noah was watching for Enoch to leave the earth so that he would know that it was time that for the flood to come – so this is a very good question and we thank Jason for asking this question.

THE.CONFLICT.BETWEEN.GOD.AND.SATAN_ CLARKSVILLE.IN THURSDAY_ 62-0531

E-51   Enoch, prophet... Noah is a type of the Jews, a remnant, God's servants; and Enoch, the great prophet who prophesied of the Lord coming, was translated, raptured before the flood. Noah was carried through for a--to preserve seed on the earth.

Now, God sent His Word by His prophet, Noah. And when Noah and Enoch begin to prophesy... And then just before the flood struck, what happened? Enoch went up; Noah went through. See? Enoch was translated. Noah's sign was watching Enoch. When Enoch come up missing, then Noah knew the flood was at hand 'cause he was keeping his eye on Enoch.

How could Noah keep his eye on Enoch when Noah wasn’t even born when Enoch was taken up? And so we being students of the scriptures and as our understanding of the scriptures has increased over the years, we know that brother Branham was actually speaking of Methuselah in this particular case.

The flood couldn’t come until Methuselah had died, and so Noah was watching Methuselah, because it was Methuselah that was holding the judgement from the earth just as the bride is holding back the full judgement of God from the earth in this hour.

Enoch, Methuselah and Noah were all showing us something of the bride in this hour.

We know that Enoch was translated and taken up before the flood of Noah – so this is also true, so brother Branham was not wrong in his revelation of this statement, we know that he just sometimes got his characters mixed up.

So as believers of the message we understand the meaning and the revelation of what brother Branham is saying here, but if you are not familiar with these things you could become very confused over these grammatical mistakes that the prophet of this generation makes from time to time.

**So we want to take look at this a little deeper because we know that the written word of the scriptures is always right, and so does this mean the Brother Branham was wrong with some of these statements?

Let’s look at this from both sides – Yes he was wrong because he sometimes made mistakes with not always saying the correct names of the historical people and getting the correct facts connected to the correct names, but then on the other side, he was not wrong with the REVELATION of what he was saying – so we must always try to look at the revelation of what the Holy Spirit is speaking through him and not get hung up with the fact that he sometimes got the wrong name attached to a person.

HEBREWS 4:12

12   For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

You could have the right intent and unknowingly say the wrong words, or you could have the wrong intent and say the right words – the first would be considered by God as telling the truth, and the second would be telling a lie.

**As humans we are all prone to making these types of mistakes with saying the wrong words of what we really mean because we know what we mean in our own minds of what we are thinking, but we all know that even though we can have the right thoughts in our minds, we can still say the wrong words with our mouths that will cause others to misunderstand us, and so this should not be something that we should make a big deal out of when we come across grammatical errors in the message of the hour because this is just a human problem that everyone has and brother Branham was a prophet of God, but he was also a human being with human traits and weaknesses.

***Brother Branham also gets Noah and Adam mixed up in relation to Enoch – and so throughout the message you will come across these sort of mistakes of brother Branham getting the wrong names attached to the wrong characters of the bible, but there should be no confusion with these things because it is correctly written in the scriptures so that we do not have to be confused – that is why we must look to where it is also written to bring the true understanding and correction to these things.

THE.RAPTURE_ YUMA.AZ V-5 N-14 SATURDAY_ 65-1204

105     Now we find here that Enoch was the seventh from Noah, which was a type of the church ages. Now, all of the rest of the six men, before him, died, but Enoch was translated. Enoch was raptured, the seventh, showing that it's the seventh church age that takes the Rapture.

Why didn’t the Holy Spirit correct brother Branham’s grammatical mistake here when he said that Enoch was the seventh from Noah? The answer is that because we all know what his thought and revelation was behind this statement, we all know that Enoch wasn’t the seventh from Noah because Noah was Enoch’s great grandchild (Noah, Lamech, Methuselah, Enoch). We all know that Enoch was the seventh from Adam, and so we know what he means here because it is clearly written in the word that Enoch was the seventh from Adam and not from Noah, so his thought and revelation was correct even though his grammatical words were wrong – This is showing us that God is watching over the thought and the revelation of the word that is being conveyed, and because brother Branham was conveying the right thought, then there was no need for God to correct him.

***We know that there are mistakes like this throughout the message, and it is unfortunate that it causes some people to stumble – but they don’t need to stumble over these things.

I believe that God actually allowed brother Branham to make these mistakes from time to time for a purpose to test the attitude of people towards his servant – but remember that the word always corrects the error because it is also written.

**We know that in the fourth seal he kept saying seven hundred instead of seven thousand, and some people became confused and thought that maybe it was some deep spiritual meaning that he was saying, but that is just immature thinking of little children of what we were back in those days, and unfortunately we still have some of these people with us today that get these things all muddled up because they don’t take the time to try to understand what he is really trying to say and compare it with what is also written in the scriptures and come to the correct and clear thought of God.

THE.FOURTH.SEAL_ JEFF.IN THURSDAY_ 63-0321

328-3 {363}   Out of the millions... Now, listen, Church, close now you that's a little bit confused on this. Out of the millions in the world in the days of Elijah, when Jezebel and Ahab was reigning in--in type of the antitype today--out of the whole world, there was only seven hundred saved of Elijah's preaching. Is that right? It's exactly.

His thought was right exactly, but his speech wasn’t right exactly because he keeps saying seven hundred instead of seven thousand – but notice that God didn’t say a word here to correct him, because God was watching the thought behind what he was saying and not the letter of the word – it is the truth of the thought which is the spirit of the word that brings life and not the letter of the word.

***So we find out that when this mistake is brought to his attention that brother Branham sincerely apologizes and acknowledges that it was just a mumble up of his words and that he meant seven thousand and not seven hundred – This is the answer right here to all these other grammatical errors that you may fine throughout the message - his thoughts were right, but it was just his words that sometimes came out wrong.

THE.FOURTH.SEAL_ JEFF.IN THURSDAY_ 63-0321

329-1 {370}   God said, "I'm going to open up one of the Seals and show you something." Said, "You know, I got seven hundred back there that ain't never bowed a knee or joined any of them creeds yet, denominations. There's seven hundred of them ready for the rapture. See?" Oh, oh, He said to His prophet, who He reveals His Word to (See?), through the Scripture, "I have seven hundred prepared names yet out of this generation, seven hundred of them.

THE.SIXTH.SEAL_ JEFF.IN SATURDAY_ 63-0323

395-2 {16}   And now the a... Tell a little review of last night, kindly back up a little each time. And say, I--I want to say something too. I found in that box four or five very important things to me. I was told that... And I certainly want to apologize... Is the tapes on? Tape's on? I want to apologize to my minister brethren and to you people here.

They say the other night when I was speaking of--of Elijah, that hour of--when they was... He thought he was the only one was going to be in the rapture, or he--only one going to be saved; and I said seven hundred instead of seven thousand. Is that right? Well, I'm sure sorry of that, folks. I--I--I knowed better than that. It was just simply a mumble of speech, because I knowed it was seven thousand. I just didn't say it right. I--I... And I--I thank you and I... That means that...

395-4 {17}   I'm glad that you are watching what I say, and you see then, that's... 'Cause it's--it's--it's seven thousand. I got two or three notes on it. It said, "Brother Branham, I believe you were mistaken," It said, "Wasn't there seven thousand instead of seven hundred?"

I thought, "Surely I didn't say seven hundred." See? That a... And then I... Billy... And then first thing you know, I picked up another note and it said, "Brother Branham, you--I believe you said seven hundred." And one person said, "Brother Branham, was that a spiritual vision that--that there's--there's just going to be a type and you're typing it with the seven..." It puts people on edge when you go to thinking these things (See?), and it's enough to. It puts me on the edge.

*** God was watching closely to make sure that the revelation of this hour was being conveyed to us correctly. But to the critics, God allowed bother Branham to sometimes make these types of mistakes so that his critics would have something to use as an excuse to disrespect and disbelieve him.

*We know that there were times when the Lord would interrupt him when he made grammatical mistakes – but mostly he didn’t.

TOKEN_ JEFF.IN V-2 N-19 SUNDAY_ 63-0901M

215     And all outside of that ark perished. All outside of the token, of the blood, perished, everyone. And everyone outside of the Token, of the Holy Ghost, will perish.

216   No matter how good, how much church members! There was a lot of them in the days of Noah. There was a lot of them in the days of Moses; but a man that failed to apply the blood, as the token was, he perished. Those who failed to go in the ark, perished. Those who fail to come into Christ, for He is the Ark!

217   First Corinthians 12, said, "By one Spirit we are all baptized into one Body." The mythical, not church; but the mythical, not the denominations;

Notice that he is saying the word mythical instead of mystical.

TOKEN_ JEFF.IN V-2 N-19 SUNDAY_ 63-0901M

401     ... Being--being partakers of This, what a great thing it is, being partakers, baptized by this one Spirit, into that one myst-... mythical Body.

402   Did I say that word right, mythical? Mystic, mystic Body, mystic Body of Jesus Christ. See, the Holy Spirit said, "You're saying that wrong." A dummy like me, but He said, "You're saying that wrong," I called it, "mythical," which is mystic Body of Jesus Christ, see, the mystic Body of Jesus Christ. I don't... We don't need an education; we need the Holy Spirit. He is the One. See? He is the One. Yeah, see, that might have stumbled somebody somewhere, some educator, now I hope he gets it right. The mystic Body! It'll be for something, 'cause He wouldn't have said that. See? He is right here now. He is right here at the pulpit. He is right out there. It's Him. See? Whew!

**In this case the Lord intervened when he kept using the wrong word “Mythical” body instead of “Mystical” body. Mythical is to do with the fiction of myths or folk tales – the body of Christ is not a fiction story or a folk tale.

Let’s look at another time of what happened when brother Branham gets a thought wrong behind a question that he was asked and actually began to give a wrong answer.

THE.SEVENTH.SEAL_ JEFF.IN SUNDAY_ 63-0324E

529-5 {33}   Then this morning, I'll never forget this morning; the grace of our Saviour to His tired weary servant. When I'd answered a poor person's question, and the best of my mind, thinking that I'd done right, and all of a sudden as if I'd--I'd taken something away from a child, I was so condemned and didn't know what it was. And I thought, "Maybe being that I was pressing to get to that healing service, maybe somebody so desperately sick that had to be prayed for right then..." and I asked the audience. A few minutes, it was revealed. Somebody said, "Won't you read your--read your text over," or something, and that time I picked up a little piece of paper and read it again to see what it said and looked down on the Book, and it was altogether different, the question I was answering. See?

530-2 {35}   May I just pass this to you. When the supernatural comes in, that's the mind of Christ. You become so far away from your own thinking till in your own mind... I... This... you... I... Don't--don't let me try to explain that, because I can't. See? I couldn't do it. There's nobody could do it.

REVELATION 22:18-19

18   For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19   And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Remember that a word is a thought expressed, and so behind every word is the thought of the person that spoke the word, and so it is not the grammatical word that is as important as it is receiving the same understanding of the original thought of the one who spoke the word.

**So this is what we talk about as the revelation of the word of God, because it is the revelation of the word of God that brings life – not to understand the letter of the word because you could have a thousand different understandings of the letter of the word, but it the revelation of the word that brings life.

***The Revelation of the word of God is when the same thought of God that spoke the word becomes clear to your mind by the Holy Spirit making it clear to your mind – then you can look past the grammatical mistakes of the messenger and understand the mind of God expressed behind the message of the hour.

MATTHEW 24:35

35   Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

JOHN 6:63

63   It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The spirit of the word is the thought of God that comes into you.

***So we must not add or take away from the word of God – in other words we must not have a different understanding of the word of God to what God has – the thought must be the same. This applies to all of the word of God because we know that Eve only took one word away by her unbelief – she began to have a different thought in her mind that was contrary to God’s thought, and it was because of her false revelation of the word that threw the entire human race into sickness and suffering and death for 6000 years. And so that is the number one tactic of the enemy is to get you to become confused about the word of God in your thinking, and this was the trick that he was trying to play with Jesus in the three temptations, but Jesus defeated him by the word because it is also written.

THE.SPOKEN.WORD.IS.THE.ORIGINAL.SEED_ JEFF.IN V-3 N-2 SUNDAY_ 62-0318

97-5   Oh, people, God bless you. Hear me. I can't believe nothing but God's Word, and I want It to be my life, everything that I am. I want you to do the same. Let your walks, your talks, your moves, everything you do, be in the Word of God. Let the mind of Christ come into you, and--and that'll pregnate you with the Word. If you don't--if you let the mind of the denomination come in, you'll be denominational pregnated. If you let the mind of Christ come into you, He can't deny His own Word, 'cause He's God. You'll be pregnated with the Word and believe It. I don't care if they put you out, kick you out, run you out, and every door is closed, you'll go just the same. Amen.

***Adam walked with God in perfect fellowship because the mind of God was in Adam. And in this hour we have come back to this same place by the message of the hour that has revealed this mighty God that has been unveiled to us by his thoughts being revealed to us in this hour through the message of the hour – we can walk with God like Enoch and Noah and be translated and leave this world and go to another world.

THE.SIXTH.SEAL_ JEFF.IN SATURDAY_ 63-0323

410-5 {135} …Now, remember... Now, I've always taught that in the mouth of two or three witnesses, let every word be established, and the Scripture...

Just like, you can't take one Scripture and prove nothing 'less there's something else goes with it. See? See, I can take one Scripture and say, "Judas went and hung himself," take another one and say, "You go do the same." See? But you see, it won't blend in with the rest of it.

WHY.I'M.AGAINST.ORGANIZED.RELIGION_ JEFF.IN V-12 N-1 SUNDAY_ 62-1111E

41   You can take a Scripture, and say, "Judas went and hung himself," and, "you go do likewise," if you want to, but that don't make it right.

43   God had chosen Moses and God had chosen Aaron, and it was the message of the day. And no matter how good the other side looked, it was contrary to God's thinking. And we've got to let God's thinking be our thinking. Let the mind that was in Christ be in you. And this Bible reveals the mind of Christ.

THE.TEN.VIRGINS.AND.THE.HUNDRED.AND.FORTY.FOUR.THOUSAND.JEWS_ JEFF.IN ROJC 425-492 SUNDAY_ 60-1211M

75   I remember saying something here two or three years ago that was wrong. It was attorneys that called me, and I went and... My wife setting there. I'd... My head...?... feel like it's coming off, and I--I went back. And they called on the phone and said, "Tell him come down this afternoon."

And Meda said, "It's the attorneys."

I slipped outside the door; I said, "Tell him I'm not even here."

She said, "Bill."

And I said, "Tell him I'm not in here right now." And I went out. Then I got out there and felt real bad and come back. She told him; I seen it hurt her.

I went out to pray for... There was a man come in here, had a little sick baby. And just as I started to put my hand on that baby and pray for it, Something said to me, "You're a hypocrite." See? "You know what you did."

And I said, "Sir, I'm not worthy to pray for your baby. (See?) The Holy Spirit's grieved in me, and there's no need in me putting my hands on the baby. You just wait till I go make something right."

I went down and told the--told my attorney; I said, "I--I did wrong."

He said, "I thought you was gone."

I said, "No." I said, "That was... I caused my wife to say something that was wrong." I said, "I'm--I'm sorry, I--I didn't--I didn't mean to do that." I said, "Will you forgive me for it?"

And asked the wife to forgive me for it.

WHAT.HEAREST.THOU.ELIJAH_ CHICAGO.IL TUESDAY_ 59-0609

E-46   I was condemned standing in the pulpit. I'm going to confess it right here, 'cause it's already forgiven me. I was eating my dinner, and the phone ring. It was a private number, and we have a answering service. And--and the phone rang. And I wondered it's maybe somebody that knew me. And wife went in, and she put her hand over the phone. Said, "Them government men again..."

Oh, my head felt like it was coming out of the top anyhow. I was so nervous and upset. I had to go dig up this, and dig up that, and then flusterate around like this, and go get the church, and get the deacons to do this, and the trustees to do this. I was so weary. You know what I done? I said, "Tell them I'm not in here right now." And I run out the house and went around behind the house.

When I come back in, my wife looked at me, and she's a darling. She said, "Billy, was that just exactly right?"

I said, "Sure it was. I wasn't in here, right then." You see, sometimes you act like it's the truth when it's still a lie. God don't want us to lie, or tell little white lies, or dodge around the corner. Everything's got to be right out and above board.
