A Study in “Well Doing” Pt.4

MATTHEW 7:21-23

21     ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (For us to be able to do the will of God we must first accept the word through the messenger that God has sent for our day, and then we must become a part of that word by being involved with the events that flesh out that word for our day. In other words, the prophecy of the word for the hour is to be interpreted and acted out and become history in your own personal life.

22   Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (They thought by their own imagination that they were doing the will of God for their day, but they weren’t)

23   And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

A Study in “Well Doing” Pt.4

Many religious people have their own ideas of what it is to do the will of God and to please God, and to do well, but outside of the revelation that God has given for this age they are all doing God a service outside of His will for what He wants achieved for this age, and ultimately they will be rejected by the Lord at the end – that is the big disappointment.

We opened this study in Pt.1 with GENESIS 4:6-7a

6     ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7a   If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? (**Cain’s opinion of himself was that he had done well, he had worked hard for many weeks and had brought forth the fruit of his labours as a sacrifice to the Lord – but we know by God’s account that what Cain had done was not doing well because it was contrary to the revelation for his age) and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.

***Doing well in the sight of God is not sacrificing your works to some “good” cause, but doing well in the sight of God is aligning yourself in obedience to the will of God for your day.

GALATIANS 6:9

9   And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

MATTHEW 25:20-23 (Pick up from last week)

20   And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21   His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22   He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23   His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

***To be a good and faithful servant, you must multiply your God given talent for the purpose of God for the age that you live in.

**Our work and service to God is to be involved with and to use whatever gift we have to advance the revelation of this hour in whatever capacity we are call to serve the Lord in.

If we serve the Lord by being a support and help and encouragement to other believers and a faithful support to the local ministry and a help in the church services and activities, and being a faithful part of the body of believers, then that is being faithful and “well doing” and you will most certainly hear those words “well done”.

176-6   PERGAMEAN.CHURCH.AGE - CHURCH.AGE.BOOK CPT.5

"I know thy works." These are the identical words uttered to each of the seven messengers relative to the people of God in each age. As they are spoken to the two vines (true and false) they will bring joy and gladness to the hearts of one group, but they ought to strike terror in the hearts of the other. For though we are saved by grace, apart from works, true salvation will bring forth works, or deeds that will please God.

I John 3:7,

"Little children, let no man deceive you; he that DOETH (worketh) righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous."

If this verse means anything at all, it means that what a man DOES he IS.

James 3:11,

"Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?"

Romans 6:2,

"How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?"

Matthew 12:33-35

"Either make the tree good and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt and his fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by his fruit.

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things."

Now if a man is born of the Word (Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever. I Peter 1:23) he will produce the Word. The fruit or works of his life will be a product of the kind of seed or life that is in him. His works, therefore will be Scriptural. Oh, what an indictment this truth is going to be against the Pergamean Age. There stands that Matchless One, and in His hand the sharp sword with the two edges, the Word of God. And that Word will judge us in the last day. In fact the Word is judging even now, for it is the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It cuts asunder the carnal from the spiritual. It makes us living epistles read and known of all men to the glory of God.

"I know thy works." If a man fears that he might not please God, then let him fulfill the Word. If a man wonders if he will hear those words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," let him fulfill the Word of God in his life, and assuredly he will hear those words of praise. The Word of truth was the criterion then; it is the criterion now. There isn't another standard; there isn't another plumb line. As the world is going to be judged by one Christ Jesus, even so it is going to be judged by the Word. If a man wants to know how he is making out, let him do as James suggested: "Look into the mirror of God's Word."

**We studied previously a little into the relationship between the Theocracy and Monarchy in the story in Danial CH4 and we can see this relationship between Theocracy and Monarchy throughout the scriptures with the relationships of prophets and the kings, and we find out when the king put aside the leadership of the prophet that God sent to them, then that is when things went wrong, and it is the same with our own lives.

CHRONICLES 13:1-14

1     ¶ And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.

2   And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:

3   And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.

4   And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

5   So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.

6   And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

7   And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.

8   And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9     ¶ And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

10   And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

11   And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.

12   And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?

13   So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. (Notice that David failed because he didn’t take the event of his life and take it back into the word to see if what he was doing fitted the scriptures’ – and that is also the mistake that we often make)

14   And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

159     Remember, but, him being king, and got the revelation, he overstepped his place. There was a prophet in the land by the name of Nathan, he was the one that was ordained to get the revelation. There's anything to be spoke, He said, "The Lord doeth nothing until He reveals it to His servants the prophet." But, you see, David being king, with the anointing upon him... Now, is that the Scripture? Anointing upon him, and got a true revelation; but it was wrong. Because Nathan was the prophet of that age, and the revelation never come to Nathan, and when the revelation come to David he never even consulted Nathan about it. He's just going to go ahead and do what he wanted to do. Uh-huh.

160     But notice who David consulted here in the 13th chapter, "But he consulted the captains of thousands and of hundreds," back to his congregation. See? "Now, don't you think we should do...?" That isn't it. Now, he was trying to do God a service, but he wasn't ordained to do it; see, 'cause God had a way.

161   Just the same as God could have spoke to the--the king about his sore and getting well, but He didn't, He had a ordained way of doing it, that was His prophet. So He spoke to the prophet, Isaiah, told him to go back and tell Hezekiah what would happen.

162   Now, Hezekiah was talking face to face with God, and--and God could talk to Hezekiah, of course, but He made certain channels! You understand it? God has His Own set way of doing things: sending revivals, talking, speaking, whatever it is. He has His way of doing it, and we are nobody to tell Him how to do it. He does it the way it pleases Him to do it.

239     Now here's David, king, David's trying to do the same thing here. He's taken it upon hisself (Notice what he is doing – David is a true message believer for that hour, but he has become enthused, and he made a decision to do God a service assuming that God will respect his efforts, but we know that the ark was supposed to be carried on the shoulders of the Levites and not on a new cart with oxen pulling it, but in David’s mind, he thought that God would respect his efforts of service so well that that would be enough, and he never consulted Nathan the prophet about it. And this is how many people can get caught up with things today, especially if all the rest of the crowd are going along with it). "Well, that's fine, got to go. Looky, lots of people. What do you say, captain? You have ten thousand."

240   "Glory to God, David, I feel the Spirit." Oh, he did! He did feel It. "What do you think, David? Do you feel It?"

241   "Glory to God, It's all over me! Let's check it and see if it's right, let's see. Where does the ark belong?"

242   "With us! Belongs among us."

243   "Who should we consult? Sure, the ark. Just the same thing as that ground belonged to--to Israel instead of the Philistines. That's right. They belong to us. And as I feel the anointing, too."

244   The captains of hundreds, all the congregation, "Glory to God!" They clapped, and they shouted, and they danced, and jumped up and down.

245   They had the Spirit, but what do you think Father was thinking? "How I've sent Nathan, that prophet down there! They know what to do, and so does David, but now he's just all enthused and stepped right over his boundary line and went to do this."

246     All right, notice, "carry It on the shoulders" was God's original plan.

***Cain would never give himself to be under a leadership of theocracy by coming into obedience to the word and the revelation of the will God for that hour in order to “do well” by obedience to the revelation that Abel had received from God, but that is what God was requiring him to do in that hour, and he is also requiring us to do the same thing under the revelation of this hour.

Cain wanted to do God a service but according to his own way apart from the revelation that came by God to Abel. Cain was trying to make God receive his idea and interpretation of the word - he was determined to try to do God a service outside of the revelation of the word that had been given for that season and God flatly rejected it.

GENESIS 4:3-12

3     ¶ And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4   And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5   But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6     ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7   If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8     ¶ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

9     ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

10   And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

     11   And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

12   When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

***Look what brought the curse upon the earth at the beginning – it was because of the rejection of the word for that hour – but in this end time hour, there is a people on earth now that will not reject the revelation that God has sent for this time through a prophetic ministry, and because of that, the curse that was sent upon the earth back then will be removed from the earth for the millennial age that is to come, why? Because there are a people that are willing in this hour to be under a prophetic leadership and to receive the revelation of what God has given for this time, and to walk in the light that God he has shown before us.

***Let us not weary in the well doing of what God has called us to do in this hour according to the revelation of this day, and that is that why we must lay in the presence of this revealed word until all the greenness is baked out of us by the grace of God.

***Remember that the seed of this word that you have received into your heart has the power in itself to transform you and restore to you all that Adam lost.

*Weary not in well doing – in other words, don’t get tired of what seems like the mundane of everyday life in our service to the Lord and listening to the messenger that God has sent to this generation and talking about the Lord and the promises of his word concerning this hour, and our church attendance, and willingness to serve the Lord in whatever way and capacity he would call us for, because in due season, we will reap a great reward.
